Which Parenting Style Do I Choose?
Counting, Love and Logic, Have a New Kid in a Week, Natural and Logical Consequences, positive reinforcement, stickers, charts, rewards, punishments, choices…
You might have come across several (or all!) of these terms and parenting approaches.
Despite their best attempts at helping to guide parents and prepare them for different stages of their child’s development, none of these approaches put their focus on the most important aspect of parenting.
What’s The Missing Piece?
The biggest missing piece these days is taking a step back in figuring out what exactly our kids are doing that is pushing our buttons. When we understand why we are so anxious around our kids, we can quickly do things to help stay calm during any situation.
During this engaging seminar presentation, Licensed Professional Counselor and Family Therapist Neil McNerney will help you improve your parenting skills by focusing on:
- Why we get our buttons pushed
- Reducing the “Incredible Hulk Effect”
- How to let consequences do the screaming
- Creating the best relationship possible with your child
Neil will reduce the stress in your family by encouraging you to focus on yourself and your reactions. He offers practical, easy-to-implement ideas that will enable you to create the type of family that you have always wanted.
Neil McNerney is dedicated to providing parents with specific tools to help restore calm, reclaim respect, and regain love and fun as a family. In addition to being a licensed counselor and serving on the faculty of Virginia Tech Graduate school, Neil is a certified parent coach and uses the ScreamFree model (screamfree.com).
Serenity Hatha Yoga class is cancelled for tonight, January 16 due to the potential for inclement weather.
