Jesus Teaches About Light

Good Friday Closing

Welcome to this time of reflection, prayer and symbolic actions as we remember the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth on this Good Friday 2021.

During this self-guided experience, we will reflect on six moments during the last week of Jesus’ life, and how each one of those moments might connect to our own everyday lives. We have chosen one word that symbolically represents each of the moments. The words are Oil, Water, Wine, Blood, Tears and Light. These words will guide your time as you read and reflect on each of the brief scripture stories of the people who interacted with Jesus during the final week before his death.

The Good Friday bag that is available for pickup at Crossroads contains everything you will need for this experience. All the items in the bag can also be found in your homes (oil, water, juice, paper, salt, candle). The printed guide includes the scriptures for each of the stories, a brief interpretive reading on each scripture passage, a few reflection questions and instructions for a symbolic action to be taken after you have spent time reading and reflecting on each story. You may pause for prayer and reflection for as long or short a time as you would like after each section.

The Crossroads Labyrinth will be open for self-guided walking and reflection throughout the day. Email Susan Yantis at syantis@crossroadsnova.org if you have any questions about the Good Friday observance.
