Holiday Solstice Celebration - Meditative Hike, Covered Dish and Yule Log
Sunday, December 22, 10;30am - 2:30pm
@ Blueridge Summit Retreat
We'll gather to celebrate together on beautiful Mt. Weather near Bluemont at Blueridge Summit Retreat.
The Northern Hemisphere winter solstice will have occurred about 11 hours before we meet, at 11:19 pm EST on Saturday, December 21. We'll share the ancient stories, cultural traditions, and celebrations of solstice, learn how our orbit around the sun takes us from season to season, meditate in community, take a quiet walk in the woods, and make an organic treat for the birds (to hang on your tree or share with a neighbor) for this season of winter.
We'll also share a potluck feast!
There will be a Yule Log burning at the fire ring for the duration of our retreat.
We'll close our time at the bonfire with a guided meditation on the interplay of shadow and light as we experience the longest days of darkness and the emerging light of spring.
Please dress comfortably in layers, and bring gloves, scarf, and hat for our time outdoors.
Bring a dish to share with others (portion for 6) as we enjoy the gift of intentional community for our lunchtime meal. You may bring a few apples or chestnuts that we can roast in the fire.
All activities are cancelled through
March 22 to take the necessary precautions against COVID19.
Your well-being is our main concern.
