Every week we are given the gift of 168 hours. For some of us, one of those hours is invested weekly in a gathering with others for spiritual growth opportunities. That hour is very important, but so are the other 167. The one hour helps us to center and keeps us focused on what is most important in life. It helps us to find great joy, abundance, meaning and purpose in the other 167 hours.
Some people refer to Sunday morning as a worship service. Indeed it is and yet the Bible refers to acts of service as worship as well. So how can we see all of our 168 hours in a week as worshipful acts of service that bring new meaning and purpose to our daily lives and relationships.
In a series called 167+1 we will learn from and experience four powerful stories about Jesus who invites us to be "born again" in love, meaning, purpose and service...over and over again. 168 hours a week.
From taking care of ourselves, to simply holding open a door for someone, to helping a neighbor with a work project, to listening to someone who needs to be heard, sharing with those who are hungry and suffering, to how we see and use our money, all of us have 168 hours to invest in the most meaningful, purposeful and abundant ways.
The Apostle Paul said it like this in Romans 12:1 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.
