Qigong for Health
Tuesdays 1:00pm - 2:00pm
@ Crossroads UMC
All are welcome to Qigong for Health beginning on Tuesdays from 1-2 pm.
We'll practice a very slow and easy type of qigong, which is basically a "moving meditation."
These qigong movements are simple to learn. Nevertheless, qigong movements have a powerful strengthening and healing effect on your body.
To benefit from qigong you do not have to be fit, you don't have to be flexible, and you don't even have to be able to stand up. The exercises can be modified for almost anyone with patience who wants to learn.
Sometimes qigong and tai chi are called a moving meditation in which the mind and body are led to a state of balance and equilibrium also known as homeostasis. A Harvard medical publication* says it should also be called "moving medication."
The advantages of improving strength, flexibility and balance are pretty obvious but the advantages of peace that comes from the moving flowing meditative aspect of Qigong and Tai Chi are equally important.
