Seneca Regional Park Hike
Sunday, September 15, 2019
10:00am - 1:00pm
@ Seneca Regional Park
This loop hike will be 3.5 miles on moderately hilly trails in Seneca Regional Park, a forest park adjacent to the Potomac River in northern Fairfax County. Along the way we will pause to quietly enjoy the beauty of this tranquil area, we will learn something about the types of trees populating this park, and we will also have glimpses of, and learn the history of, one of the few remaining large farms in Northern Virginia.
We will meet in the parking area at the north end of Seneca Road in Great Falls in northern Fairfax County just before 10 AM. (This is NOT a part of Great Falls Park and there is no entry fee.)
Please bring water, bug spray, and a snack or lunch, and be prepared for a few muddy stream crossings (or more than a few if it rains much during the days prior to the hike!)
Optionally, after the hike we will meet at a nearby restaurant for food and/or post-hike conversation.
Hike leader Rick Hower has hiked many of the trails in northern Virginia and this densely forested hike is one of the more peaceful and beautiful hikes in the area. His favorite outdoor activity is searching for the rare northern Virginia trail that he has not yet hiked!
We apologize that due to the storm last night we have no Internet and we are unable to live stream at this time.
